Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum and Mop

Consider this smart option if you want a machine that can automatically empty its own dustbin and mop it without having to be supervised. It also comes with a range of mapping options and Alexa integration.

This robot is expensive, but it's great for cleaning up spills and dust. It has advanced technology to avoid obstacles and can be set up in zones to mop or vacuum.

1. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

This robotic vacuum and mop combines an attractive design and latest robotic technology. The powerful smartphone app helps you manage routine maintenance including emptying its dust bin and cleaning the mop pad between uses. It connects to an automatic self-emptying platform which cleans and empties it after each cleaning cycle. It's among the few robots that offers these features at a high price, and it performed well in our tests.

Roborock has revamped the S8 Pro Ultra compared to last year's model that focuses on avoiding obstructions and cleaning power. The result is a more efficient and cleaner machine. It now has a more potent suction motor as well as two rubber rollers in its floorhead, which make it better at picking up debris from carpets and removing pet hair from carpet. Its battery is now rated to run for up to 180 minutes, and it can be charged on a schedule to lower the cost of electricity.

The most notable change is the self-empty robot vacuum's new RockDock Ultra docking station, which goes beyond empty and clean its contents after each cleaning cycle. It also cleans the mop pad and dries it using warm air. It also refills its reservoir of water. This feature alone sets it apart from competitors because it significantly reduces the time and effort you spend managing its maintenance.

Out of the box it is S8 Pro Ultra is easy to set up. You'll need an internet connection to download the companion app and connect your docking station to an additional mop pad. Once you've done that, you're set to get started cleaning.

In our tests, the S8 Pro Ultra picked up most surface litter and embedded dirt on medium-pile carpet and unfinished floors. Its vacuuming power isn't quite as powerful as our top choice, the Roomba j7+ from iRobot however, it's a capable and versatile machine worth your consideration.

You can use the app to create a 3D-map of your house, set no-go zones and schedule specific cleaning schedules. The app also shows you an ongoing log of cleaning times and the area covered, allowing you to see the performance of each room and areas. You can even assign different cleaning options to each area. If you have an Echo device or another smart speaker, you can add voice control through Alexa or Google Assistant.

2. IRobot Roomba J7+

The Roomba J7+ robot vacuum is an excellent alternative for anyone looking for an automatic vacuum that can also mop. The model utilizes iRobot's Imprint Smart Mapping Technology to create the floor plan of your home so that it can clean rooms as efficiently as is possible. Dirt Detect helps the robot focus on areas that are messy and Reactive Sensor Technology helps it to avoid obstacles.

The j7+, as with other iRobot products, can be programmed to begin cleaning while you're away from home and stop when it's not completed. It can be controlled via the iRobot app, or via Alexa and Google Assistant-enabled smart speakers. It responds better to voice commands than most other competing robots and includes the Neabot NoMo N1 that self-empties.

In addition to letting you control the robot using a remote or smartphone and tablet, the iRobot Genius app makes it easy to set up the j7+, create a schedule, and fine-tune other settings. It will guide new users through a process of onboarding to assist the robot in mapping out their cleaning space and learn about their home.

The j7+ has a larger dustbin than most of the self-emptying robots we've tried. It can hold more debris, but you will still need to empty the bin every seven to eight month (or more often if you have pet hair or heavy debris). iRobot provides filters and bags that can be replaced.

The j7+ also features an in-front camera that is supposed to help the robot stay clear of dangers like power cords and pet waste. The camera doesn't work as well in low lighting however, so you might want to consider a competitor with a more efficient camera, such as the Roborock S7 MaxV.

Lastly, I was pleased to see that the iRobot J7+ automatically emptys its dust bin into the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal when it is docked. This is a significant improvement over the majority of competitors who require you to open and empty the bin manually. This small change will help you save time and frustration.

3. Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni

The Deebot T10 is a sleek robot that has impressive cleaning capabilities. The mop it comes with is as powerful as its vacuums, and it comes with a much more attractive design than the Roomba. The T10's intelligent features make up for the lack of a remote. With the app, you can easily start and stop a cleansing cycle. You can also schedule it, and change the settings of your device.

4. Shark ION Extended

The ION XL, Shark's most advanced self-emptying robotic vacuum is a great choice for those who want to keep their homes clean without lifting a finger. It also provides exceptional performance. The robot vacuum has an enormous bin that can hold a month's worth of dirt and the base can be programmed to automatically empty it at the end of each cleaning session for longer-term storage. The ION XL is one of the top robot vacuums that are available for hard and carpet floors. It can also sweep and mop your floor. It can be controlled with an app or voice commands and you can even create the map of your home and clean each room at the click of a button. The robot is also able to maneuver around furniture and can move through carpeted and stairs effortlessly.

I tested the ION XL in a kitchen and family room with hardwood flooring, area rugs, and a standard debris test. It was a great job vacuuming and clearing pet hair, debris and even some of the most stubborn carpet crumbs. It also did a great job in maneuvering around my bar stools and didn't hit them like the iRobot J7+ did during this test. The only issue with the ION XL is that it does not detect shoes, cords or toys that are within its path. You will need to clean your house before you use this vacuum if you want it to avoid them.

The ION XL is not as sophisticated as the iRobot J7+, but it is an excellent alternative if you don't want to spend more than $500 for a robot cleaner. It's superior to the eufy RoboVac 11S, in many ways. It's easier to maintain and has lower recurring costs. It also does a better job in vacuuming floors that aren't clean and picking up pet hair, but it does not perform as well on high- or high-pile carpet.

It's also not as robust as the Roborock S8, but it is still a solid alternative. The ION XL is a powerful machine with a huge capacity bin. It can be controlled by an app or a voice command, and is simple to maintain. It's also a reasonable price.
